To Germany, to Germany to Visit a Good Friend

Yes, we went to Germany again! My amazing friend Pam was taking a whirlwind tour of Europe with her friends who were stationed in Germany with the military, but they couldn't squeeze Prague into their tour. So on a whim we joined up with them in Heidelberg, Germany.

Heidelberg is a beautiful old city, set along the Neckar River (I'm pretty sure all old cities were set on rivers because the river was a source of life), with a half-ruined castle. It is also Germany's oldest university town and an important NATO headquarter.

We took a tour of the castle; the castle was cool but the tour was lousy. Oh well, our kids had fun playing with Kathy's kids (Pam's military friend). We even taught them our random game of pickle blue water!

After introducing Pam to doners (ie. the best food in Germany) we headed to quaint medieval town called Rothenburg ob der Tauber. This is one of my favorite towns in Germany. It is a walled city that you can walk around on top of the walls, and it has a world famous Christmas store.

Heidelberg & Rothenburg were fun to visit, but the best part was spending the day with Pam!
